Fake News to influence elections

Legal InsurrectionThe Los Angeles Times covered the racist egging attack on Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder. One woman wore a gorilla mask.

The publication used a photo that makes it look like Elder is slapping a woman instead of a picture from the attack.

The headline made it sound like Elder had a part in the attack: “LAPD is investigating altercation at Venice homeless encampment.”

There's a recall election running in California. One of the candidates is Larry Elder, a well-known (for his radio talk show) black Republican. Recently, he was attacked by a (white) woman in a gorilla mask throwing eggs. (Surely the gorilla mask is indicative of racism?)

And the LA Times reports on the story with a picture of Elder touching a woman's face; not the same woman, it should be noted, who threw an egg at him. Anyone who reads the headline and sees the picture will assume Elder was slapping the innocent woman. They'll have no idea that it was Elder who was attacked.

And that is very obviously deliberate deception by the LA Times.
