NRA files for bankruptcy, wants to move to Texas

Just The NewsThe National Rifle Association announced Friday it was filing for bankruptcy protection and will be leaving New York with plans to reorganize in Texas.

NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre said "This is a transformational moment in the history of the NRA." The organization filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in federal court in Texas on Friday.

I have no idea how this will work out legally, but we need to assume the NRA is sidelined until further notice, perhaps permanently (as a member-driven organization anyway). Wayne seems to think it's going to clear up the legal issues in New York. Maybe.

Texas is certainly a much better political environment to be in.
