Trump advisor says states are preparing slates of alternative electors

Federalist PapersWhile President Donald Trump and his inner circle attempt to recover from a massive blow dealt to their post-election efforts by the U.S. Supreme Court last week, there’s apparently already a new and unheard-of strategy brewing within that a top Trump adviser claims will hand the president a second term in office.

According to the Washington Examiner, White House adviser Stephen Miller made the announcement Monday morning during a segment on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” claiming that a set of “alternate electors” will be casting their votes on Monday at the same time as the Electoral College.

“We have more than enough time to right the wrong of this fraudulent election result and certify Donald Trump as the winner of the election,” Miller said on Monday. “As we speak today, an alternate slate of electors in the contested states is going to vote, and we’re going to send those results up to Congress.”

I'm not sure how much of a formal status these alternate slates of electors will actually have. I believe, under the Constitution, Congress will need to decide which slates to accept on January 6th or thereabouts; or possibly the state legislatures can officially switch between them. Suffice it to say this is mostly Trump's legal and political team preserving their options to contest the election. It should not be read as changing any outcomes.

More information.
