100+ Republican House members support Texas case

Just The NewsMore than 100 Republican House members signed an amicus brief filed Thursday in support of a lawsuit that seeks to overturn the election results in the battleground states of Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Just The NewsTwo Republican members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives filed an amicus curiae brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Texas in connection with the Lone Star State's election-related lawsuit that targets Pennsylvania and other states.

Bryan Cutler, the speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and Kerry Benninghoff, the majority leader of that legislative body, filed the brief which focuses exclusively on issues pertaining to their own state, not to any of the other states targeted by Texas in the suit.

The Texas case looks like it's the one that's going to matter. The inclusion of the PA House Majority requesting to file amicus briefing in support of Texas against their own state is dramatic and telling. This isn't really Texas v 4 States; it's Texas v the Executive and Judicial Branches of 4 States. The authority to govern elections rests with the state legislatures and that authority was usurped.

We may see more state legislatures file as amici supporting Texas. And for each of those four states that does have legislative support for Texas, the case gets stronger.
