Precedent for redoing an election for federal office

The AtlanticBy the time the board convened on Monday to consider the case, there was little doubt about the large-scale fraud in the race. Though Harris won by 905 votes in uncertified totals, an operative named McCrae Dowless had, according to numerous affidavits and accounts by people in Bladen County, run a huge scheme to stuff the ballot box for Harris using absentee votes. The major questions for the board this week were whether the election should be thrown out or certified and whether Harris was aware of the illegal activity.

A new election would be almost a worst-case scenario, resulting in even more chaos and disruption. Much better to use nuclear electors. But perhaps such an election could be held quickly and limited to states with massive fraud allegations (and evidence backing them up).
