I'm sure everyone has, at some point, been startled awake by someone yelling at them. Do you even remember what they actually said that woke you? How much voluntary control do you have over your hands in the moment that you are startled awake and before you have even comprehended what woke you up?
It was very, very stupid of this person to fall asleep in his car at a drive-through window with a gun in his lap. Based on that alone, I rather suspect he was up to no good (in general, if not at that specific moment). Police responding to that situation were understandably in what I will charitably call a heightened state of alertness. I can't blame them for that. And I wasn't there to see exactly what happened.
However... it is unreasonable to wake someone up by yelling at them and then shoot them for not immediately understanding what you yelled and immediately complying with those orders.
