Republicans blow the midterms by voting for gun control

Gateway PunditRepublican Senators John Cornyn of Texas, Thom Tillis and Richard Burr of North Carolina, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky are so far on board with the gun control legislation.

Just a few hours after the text of the legislation became available, mostly Democrats plus the ten Republicans above voted to advance the bill.

Passing this legislation, which now seems likely, would be a dramatic betrayal of the Republican base, no doubt motivated in part by the idea that the NRA's troubles have neutralized gun owners as a political force.

If any of the Senators on the list belong to you, or happen to be Democrat swing votes, you have at most a few days to write or call to tell them to block this bill.

Gateway PunditThe law would prohibit a misdemeanor domestic violence offender with a "current or recent former dating relationship with the victim" from purchasing or owning a firearm.

The definition of a "dating relationship" will be determined by the court, and offenders will automatically regain their ability to buy and own guns after five years if they do not commit any disqualifying offenses.

What this means in practice is that if you date someone once, they can bar you from owning or possessing guns for 5 years.

How red flag laws actually work. And, you know, they probably work to make squish RINO Republicans lose elections, too.

Oh, and anyone under 21 who tries to buy a gun gets a waiting period during which the FBI can search "confidential databases"... in other words, the NSA's ongoing 1st and 4th amendment violations will be weaponized to target young conservatives who want to own guns.
