The consequences of defunding the police and allowing riots

Just The NewsConnecticut Gov. Ned Lamont joined his counterparts from a trio of other Northeastern states to announce a new agreement to share crime gun data, a move they contend will help stem gun violence in their states.

Law enforcement agencies in the four states will share crime gun data as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the governors signed. Their goal is to identify and arrest straw purchasers, dealers, traffickers and others.

Violent crimes have surged nationwide amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Nationally, FBI data shows that violent crime increased 5.6% in 2020 from 2019, while murders and nonnegligent manslaughters increased 29.4%.

Maybe if they hadn't defunded their police departments and let criminals riot, loot, and burn their cities last year, this would be less of an issue. Now that it is, they want to blame everything on guns, as usual.

Seattle buys luxury apartment buildings to give to homeless

PJMediaThree glistening new buildings in downtown Seattle with 165 studio apartments — originally to be rented at market rates — will instead house the homeless. The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is buying the buildings with taxpayer dollars for about $50 million, with federal COVID-19 relief funds splitting the cost equally. Seattle City Hall is contributing about $25 million, while also using “American Rescue Plan Act” funds. A large portion comes from Washington State’s Department of Commerce.

Left-wing Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, so unpopular she can’t run for re-election, claims the deals will house people quickly and cheaply, compared to the time and cost required to develop similar projects from scratch. The three upscale buildings should be occupied by the end of the year.

My own city, Austin, has been trying to buy local hotels for the same purpose. WHY? It's insane.

Three nations suspend use of (some) COVID vaccines

Meaning In HistoryFinland has joined Sweden and Denmark in suspending the use of Moderna’s injection on men under 30 years of age. That’s to prevent “rare but harmful side effects.” Such as permanent heart damage. Zerohedge has the story—this is three countries now.

I can accept that permament heart damage as a side effect is “harmful”. Next question: Just how “rare” is this? Does permanent heart damage as a side effect occurring in 1/100 injected people meet a legitimate medical definition of “rare”?

What to those three nations know that our own government is desperately trying to prevent us from finding out?

IG Complaint filed over AG Garland's threatening letter

NYPostAmerican parents are organizing to fight racist critical race theories being taught in their kids’ schools. Attorney General Merrick Garland, once touted as a moderate, has responded by asking the FBI to treat them as domestic terrorists.

As befits the Biden administration, this over-the-top authoritarianism is accompanied by the stench of corruption, as it turns out that Garland’s son-in-law is in the business of selling educational materials on CRT.

America First Legal Today, America First Legal requested that the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigate the circumstances surrounding Attorney General Garland’s October 4th memorandum regarding the use of federal law enforcement against parents opposed to critical race theory, gender ideology, and irrational mask mandates in public schools. Among other things, AFL asked OIG to investigate whether the Attorney General’s Memorandum was issued on Biden White House instructions contrary to the department’s standard procedures, and to determine if it was issued for the improper partisan purpose of chilling and deterring parents from exercising their constitutional right to control and direct the education of their children.

To think this man came so close to sitting on the Supreme Court.

Virginia government wants to allow election fraud by mail

Gateway PunditVirginia Democrats are now asking Governor Ralph Northam to waive absentee ballot witness signature requirements ahead of the gubernatorial race, citing Covid dangers.

The race between Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Glenn Youngkin is close and the Democrats know they have a real chance of losing so they are once again using Covid as a vehicle to cheat just like they did in 2020.

It's becoming more and more clear that the panic over COVID was always a way to enable election cheating. And so it's never going to stop, if the Democrats have anything to say about it. The Bayou Renaissance Man has more.

More health care firings over refusal to vax

Conservative TreehouseMassachusetts hospitals are preparing to fire hundreds of employees who fail to comply with COVID-19 vaccination requirements designed to protect patient safety. Officials at hospitals across the state told The Boston Globe they don’t expect the number of employees who are fired because of vaccine mandates to result in cuts to patient services, but they are stepping up recruitment and retention efforts just in case.

Remember this when they tell you the hospitals are overwhelmed.

FBI raids New York police union headquarters

Just The Newshe New York City police officers union, the Sergeants Benevolent Association, was raided Tuesday by the FBI, along with the home of its leader Ed Mullins, according to reports.

According to WTOP, an FBI spokesperson said agents were “carrying out a law enforcement action in connection with an ongoing investigation.”

Just The NewsThe leader of the New York City police union has resigned following FBI raids Tuesday of his Long Island home and the group's Manhattan headquarters.

Ed Mullins, the leader of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, the country's fifth-largest police union, announced his resignation hours after the raids. He is purportedly the target of a federal investigation band had led the group since 2002.

In a letter to union members, the executive board of the SBA wrote, "The nature and scope of this criminal investigation has yet to be determined. However, it is clear that President Mullins is apparently the target of the federal investigation. We have no reason to believe that any other member of the SBA is involved or targeted in this matter."

Though the parameters of the investigation remain unclear for the moment, members of the public corruption unit of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York were also involved in the raid.

The New York Police Union endorsed Trump in 2020. This obviously put a political target on their back.

Chicago police union to defy vaccine mandate

PJMediaThe first major test of a vaccine mandate applied to municipal employees will take place this weekend in Chicago, where up to half of the city’s police force is set to defy the mandate by failing to report their vaccine status.

Officers and other city employees who fail to report their vaccination status by Friday will “be placed in a non-disciplinary, no pay status,” according to the mayor’s office.

“It’s safe to say that the city of Chicago will have a police force at 50% or less for this weekend coming up,” said Chicago Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara. He added, “I do not believe the city has the authority to mandate that to anybody — let alone that information about your medical history.” The union has filed suit against the city to halt enforcement of the mandate.

On the one hand, this will be very hard to ignore or write off as meaningless. On the other, one of the Democratic objectives was defunding the police, and this would be one way to accomplish that and avoid taking the blame for it.

UPDATE: Illinois blinked, but it doesn't seem to cover Chicago.

This is the story of how a cancellation is carried out, why it should worry all of us, and what we can do to stop this dangerous trend.

The left is working hard to create a totalitarian state where only their opinions are legitimate. And they appear to be succeeding.

New York firing healthcare workers, shutting down providers for vaccine refusals

Conservative TreehouseTwo points. #1) New York is shutting down healthcare provider services due to lack of human resources. #2) New York’s largest healthcare provider, Northwell Health, just fired 1,400 workers for failing to take the forced vaccination. Both of these points are currently facts in New York state.

Remember this when they tell you you have to take the vaccine to avoid overwhelming the health care system.

Trump sues Twitter

The HillFormer President Trump is asking a Florida federal judge to force Twitter to restore his account.

Trump’s attorneys on Friday filed a motion for preliminary injunction against Twitter and its CEO Jack Dorsey. The filing states that Twitter had been “coerced” into banning Trump.

“Coerced by members of the United States Congress, operating under an unconstitutional immunity granted by a permissive federal statute, and acting directly with federal officials, Defendant is censoring Plaintiff, a former President of the United States,” the filing reads.

For everyone whining about bitching about how Twitter is a private company, the bit about "acting directly with federal officials" invalidates that defense and means the 1st Amendment absolutely does apply.

Fulton County GA shredded 300 voter applications

Just The NewsGeorgia's top election official on Monday demanded that the U.S. Justice Department open an investigation into election management in the state's largest county after officials in Fulton County disclosed they had shredded at least 300 voter applications for its upcoming municipal elections in apparent violation of the law.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's office told Just the News that his office had also opened an inquiry into the disclosure by Fulton County officials but believed it was time for federal prosecutors to review chronic election irregularities inside the state's largest county, which includes the city of Atlanta.

Don't trust Raffensperger's motivations here, or the federal DOJ to look into it. The federal DOJ will carefully sweep everything under the rug. A state level investigation might actually find something, but such an investigation would put Raffensperger at risk too, as he is widely believed to have some involvement in the 2020 election shenanigans.

Durham subpoenas more records from Perkins Coie

CNNSpecial Counsel John Durham has issued a new set of subpoenas, including to a law firm with close ties to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign, an indication that Durham could be trying to build a broader criminal case, according to people briefed on the matter. So far, Durham's two-year probe into the FBI's Russia investigation hasn't brought about the cases Republicans has hoped it would.
The grand jury subpoenas for documents came earlier this month after Durham charged Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann with lying to the FBI in a September 2016 meeting. During that meeting, Sussmann handed over data purporting to show links between the Trump Organization and Russia's Alfa Bank. That tip became part of the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election but the FBI ultimately couldn't find evidence of a link.

The only thing we can really solidly read into this is that Durham is likely going after more people than Sussman.

Kash Patel on latest Durham news

Conservative TreehouseKash Patel appears on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the latest developments in the John Durham probe. Patel formerly worked on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) with Chairman Devin Nunes, and was one of the key figures who authored the Nunes memo in early 2018.

Mr. Patel is optimistic in his discussion with Council on Foreign Relations member, Maria Bartiromo, and states that from his experience large conspiracy indictments can take several years to assemble. Patel believes Special Prosecutor John Durham, now 30 months into his investigation, is working his way through the investigative material and could bring indictments against DOJ and FBI government insiders in roughly six months or more.

Kash Patel knows the topic like almost no one else does, but he's an eternal optimist. He thinks Durham will go after some of the remaining big fish, with indictments against Fusion GPS, Comey, and McCabe. He also thinks Page and Strozk are cooperating.

The mantra has been slightly modified: no more excitement without more indictments.

DOJ settlement awards SpyGate figure McCabe his pension back

Just The NewsFormer Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, settled a lawsuit with the Justice Department on Thursday, reinstating his full pension which he lost after being fired at the direction of former President Donald Trump.

According to the Associated Press, McCabe was fired following a report from the inspector general that he had authorized information to be leaked to a news reporter in 2018.

McCabe was fired only hours before he was set to retire from the Justice Department. His firing caused him to forfeit his retirement pension.

There's some speculation about what this means for Durham deciding whether or not McCabe gets criminally charged. I don't really see those things as connected. Main DOJ wants to protect the people involved. That's what this is. It's a settlement of a lawsuit, not any sense of clearing McCabe of wrongdoing. DOJ just wants to do a favor for one of their own by restoring his pension.

Durham will charge, or not, without getting involved one way or the other.

The fact that even the minimal punishment applied to McCabe for attempting to influence an election and then participating in the Mueller coup attempt was wiped out is infuriating, and it may well be meant as some kind of subtle hint to Durham that McCabe is protected. But I also don't think it's really necessary to read that far into it.

Durham may well have been warned off DOJ/FBI people in his investigation, but if so, I don't think that communication is happening by press release and coded settlement offers.

Massive fraud in Delaware?

National FileDelaware saw massive “fraudulent” votes being submitted in the 2020 election and nursing homes that had way more votes submitted than people who lived there, according to 2020 Delaware U.S. Senate candidate Lauren Witzke and a memo from Patriots for Delaware that has been obtained by NATIONAL FILE.

Lauren Witzke: “Preliminary Audits of the Delaware 2020 elections are damning. Only 10% of the votes have been audited and they’ve already found over 20k fraudulent ballots. Internal polling before the elections were EXTREMELY close. They couldn’t let Joe Biden’s home state seem even remotely competitive while they were busy stealing the swing states- would have raised a few eyebrows. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s looking like I pulled in at least 47% of the vote- I maybe even won. Thank you to Seth Keshel’s Team for all of their hard work. More on this to come. Stay tuned!”

I wasn't even aware there was an audit ongoing in Delaware.

400K illegal aliens just this month

Gateway PunditThe Biden administration is warning a massive surge of up to 400,000 illegal aliens and fake refugees in October could occur as Biden’s mixed messaging and open borders advocates’ court battles keep luring people from around the world to make the costly, dangerous trek to the U.S. southern border.

Austin police struggling after defunding effort

Just The NewsThe Austin Police Department is warning it won’t be responding to non-life threatening 911 calls.

Starting Friday, Austin’s sworn police officers will no longer be responding in person to non-emergency calls because of severe staffing shortages, APD announced.

The staffing shortages and inability to respond to non-life threatening 911 calls is a direct result of the Austin City Council’s defunding of the APD last year, cutting $150 million of its budget, and other changes that were implemented affecting how the department operates.

Austin Police Association President Ken Casaday told Fox News that APD hasn’t been able to hire new officers because it hasn’t been able to have a police academy for nearly two years. As a result, there aren’t enough patrol officers to respond to non-emergency calls.

While the APD has recently begun to resume cadet classes, it will take a while to get new officers on the streets. The city is paying more than $10,000 per day, with a maximum of $580,000 per year, to Joyce James Consulting to provide an “anti-racism” Critical Race Theory-based curriculum for a “reimagining public safety campaign.”

Yeah, defunding the police is going so very, very well that George Soros is donating half a million dollars to oppose a ballot measure ensuring adequate police staffing.

Subpoenas issued in Wisconsin election audit

Just The NewsWisconsin state House Speaker Robin Vos, a Republican, said Friday he has signed off on the first subpoenas in an audit of the state's 2020 election results, an indication the review is proceeding.

Vos said the subpoenas were being filed as part of the GOP-backed investigation being led by former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman. The former justice visited the site of the election audit in Arizona's Maricopa County and has said he could issue subpoenas to election officials who don’t comply with information related to his review, according to The Hill newspaper.

It remains to be seen how serious an audit this is.

Transgender bathroom policies lead to child rape

Conservative TreehouseThis horrific story is grotesque and enraging. A 14 year-old student was raped and sodomized by a teenage sexual predator in Virginia on May 28th. The school never called the police and apparently wanted to keep the incident covered up because the rapist identifies as a transgender student.

The predator used the transgender bathroom policies of the Loudoun County school system to gain access to the girls bathroom, where he raped and sodomized the victim.

When the father Mr. Scott Smith went to confront the school board in June, he was arrested. [CTH Covered the School Board Meeting HERE] The National School Board Association later used the incident of Mr. Smith’s arrest to label the victim’s father as a “domestic terrorist” in their demand letter to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Virginia police and county prosecutors told Mr. Smith to keep his mouth shut. Meanwhile, the rapist was transferred to another school where he sexually assaulted another teenage girl last week. Only after the second rape did the issue start to become public as the father of the first victim would no longer stay quiet.

There's an election going on in Virginia right now where you can fix this. Remove McAuliffe, famous for pardoning felons in a Democratic get-the-felon-vote-out-of-jail effort and "donating" hundreds of thousands to dollars to Andy McCabe's wife's political campaign, and replace him with a governor who doesn't want little girls being raped in bathrooms by boys in skirts.

At least one worthy candidate for NRA leadership

Only Guns and MoneyIn normal years, a candidate for the NRA Board of Directors who wanted to be nominated by petition would have months to gather the needed signatures. This is not a normal year.

The window to gather signatures opened with the Annual Meeting on October 2nd and closes on November 16th. Thus, instead of almost six months, a candidate will have approximately six weeks to gather 477 signatures of NRA voting members. As a reminder, those eligible to both vote and sign such a petition are Life, Patron, Endowment, and Benefactor members and Annual members with 5 continuous years of membership. If you have had a break in your annual membership, the clock restarts.

It seems like there is only one person who wants to be on the NRA's board worth supporting in this moment of crisis. If you are a voting member, consider this.

Biden nominates literal communist who wants to national the banking system

PJMediaPresidentish Joe Biden wants to put an actual Communist — self-proclaimed “radical” Cornell University law school professor Saule Omarova — in charge of the nation’s banking system.

Omarova graduated from the Soviet Union’s Moscow State University in 1989 on the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship, according to the Wall Street Journal. As recently as 2019, she was still praising the USSR’s economic system as in some ways superior to our own.

She wants to nationalize the banking system. Not like the Federal Reserve, but like you would only be able to open a bank account at a government version of the Federal Reserve. Which means the government would know about every single transaction. No "reporting" needed. They would already know, because you have to basically ask their permission to do anything with "your" money.

The State needs to indoctrinate

Conservative TreehouseDuring a Virginia Governor’s Debate, hosted by NBC Washington at Northern Virginia Community College, gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe emphasized his position that parents should not be allowed to determine what books and content are used in the curriculum of students.

Seeming to be dependent on the teacher’s unions for support, McAuliffe said: “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

If the parents aren't telling schools what to teach, who is?

Government, obviously.

But government is supposed to come from the people, too. Essentially, still the parents.

McAuliffe is basically denying the legitimacy of our form of government.
