EFF v Diebold: The necessity of Open-Source voting

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has filed a lawsuit seeking to force Diebold, an electronic voting machine provider, to place the source code to its software into escrow in case of problems with the election.  While electronic voting has the potential to significantly improve the process, it absolutely must be open to full public scrutiny.  Anything less is to allow the programmers of the system to manipulate elections at will.
