A word on gun safety
|
Ace of Spades has a post explaining to David Frum why all guns don't have chamber loaded indicators. I'll shorten the answer a little bit to suit my mood: because you aren't supposed to be horsing around with the thing whether you think it's loaded or not, you idjit. Or in the original Russian: "Is gun. Is not safe." Like many other tools -- chainsaws, kitchen knives, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches -- guns can be dangerous if used improperly. That's why gun safety is a skill that people should learn, even if they don't like guns. At a minimum, every child should learn not to touch a gun they find, and to tell an adult. Those who are interested in guns can learn how to use them safely. Those who don't trust themselves to use a gun safely don't have to. But that's not a decision we can make for other people, just for ourselves. |
