Joe Huffman needs a job...

It seems like it's fallout over his websites.  I can't really say what was deemed unacceptable, since he doesn't know either, but there are reasons I don't blog about work -- and I don't have a job with national security implications that requires a security clearance.

Sympathies, Joe.

I hesitate to wonder what sort of employment can be found these days for a man who shoots explosives with rifles for fun, but I hope something comes up soon for his sake.

UPDATE: I think he prefers to call them "reactive targets".

UPDATE: Joe is clarifying that it may have started with his websites, but they probably were not the final straw...  in any case, I'm not trying to guess at causes, just extend sympathy.

Explosives are fine.

Just don't call them bombs. A bomb is something designed or intended to cause damage to property or carbon-based lifeforms. The reactive targets I make are specifically designed to do minimal damage.

And I don't know if it was because of my websites. I just know that is what they said started the "investigation". They did their "investigation" and without ever giving me a chance to defend myself said, "You're fired." I'm certain none of the material posted was classifed in any manner. I'm certain I could have put that same information on my resume or in a series of research papers and I would have been fine--praised even. So I'm confused and frustrated as to why they won't tell me the details of what they think I did wrong. I know one thing I did do wrong--which I admitted to when the first vague question about it came up. I let my daughter and wife use the company laptop to browse the web. That was against policy and I knew it at the time. I just figured it wouldn't matter or I would get "a slap on the wrist" if it came up.

Oh well... They will probably loose $1M worth of business in the next year because of projects that only I could do. They were short of people anyway and they just made things much much worse for themselves.
