Assault Weapons Ban introduced in Iowa

Today an Iowa Senator will introduce legislation that would ban assault weapons in the state.  State Senator Michael Connolly says the ban would protect the public and law enforcement officers. This afternoon Connolly plans to discuss the legislation and call on the legislature to pass the bill.  Connolly says it would fill the void created by Congress when it failed to renew the federal assault weapons ban last fall.
Isn't it interesting how state-level bans get only three-paragraph, probably-back-page-in-the-paper-version mentions in the media these days?  It's almost like the media is afraid gun owners might find our their supposed representatives are trying to infringe their rights.
