One Killed and 3 Are Wounded at New Orleans School

A gunman carried an AK-47 assault rifle into a high school protected by four security guards and a police officer today and sprayed bullets into the school gymnasium, killing a 15-year-old boy and wounding three teenage girls, the authorities said.

The gunman escaped with three accomplices, but four teenagers three boys and a girl were quickly arrested just two blocks from the school in the Mid-City section of New Orleans, two of them hiding in a car and two in a nearby house, the authorities said. They were not students at the school, John McDonogh High School, the police said. Advertisement

The police said tonight that the shooting appeared to have been retaliation for a killing on April 7.

Just remember, folks. This isn't just a "school shooting" -- this is gang warfare. These people got past four armed guards with an AK-47.
