House to vote on gun control

The HillA week after Democrats staged a nearly 26-hour sit-in demanding a vote on gun control measures, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said the House will vote next week on legislation to block suspected terrorists from buying guns.

In a conference call Thursday, Ryan told rank-and-file Republicans that the House will take up a terrorism package that will include measures to disrupt radicalization and recruitment, as well as a provision to prevent suspected terrorists from purchasing guns, according to a source on the call.

Reid is still confident that gun control will pass, and the above is likely why. It looks like Ryan is planning to try to pass gun control through the House with some additional antiterrorism measures as cover.

I didn't quote it, but the constant reiteration of idiot reporters calling Democrats sitting on the floor of a room where they have a right to be AND have available chairs "historic" is really getting on my fucking nerves. They obviously have no idea what "historic" means.

Ryan giving in to them and wrapping gun control in some kind of more palatable wrapper to send to the Senate is a betrayal of "historic" proportions, one that may cost his party the support of gun owners.

We haven't stopped them yet, and if we want to stop them, doing it in the House would be preferable. And it's going to be harder to stop something our own "team" is pushing.
